Hello. Please help!!
I cannot remember my password; when I request an email to be sent, the link that is in the email takes me straight back to the login page (i.e. it doesn’t reset the password for me or take me to a page where I can do this manually). I have tried this more than once across different days, but the same thing keeps happening.
I have tried to register again, but as my email already exists, I cannot do this!!
Many thanks
Sarah
I have to echo the above comments, the new “upgraded” site is a mess, it doesn’t display properly, you can’t log in.
As my old teacher used to say “Could do better, alot better”
Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your comment. Apologies for the problem with resetting your password.
There do seem to be a small minority of people who are having the same issue, and our development team will be looking at the problem today.
Sorry for any inconvenience this is causing. Either myself or a colleague will post here again once we have it resolved.
@Gary Leece
Please can you advise what kind of log in issues you have been having? Is it the same issue with resetting a password?
Also, you mention that the site doesn’t display correctly. Do you have a specific instance that we could look into?
Thanks for your feedback.
The password won’t reset, just takes me back to login page.
The page display doesn’t fit the window, the fonts are all too large and overlapping
Thanks Gary, we’ll look into this. Please could you advise what web browser you are using though? (i.e. Internet Explorer 6 or 7, Firefox) and on which operating system? (i.e. Windows XP, Vista, Mac OSX)
And is the display issue you mention only affecting specific pages on the website?
@Gary
I suspect as you have not replied back (please do) that you have realised that you have increased the font size yourself in your browser. Most nearly every site that uses CSS and relative font sizes allows the user to increase or decrease the font size for their viewing pleasure.
I can ‘break’ Google if I like by making my font size huge. You can always change it back to normal size.
Cheers,
Eben
I’m not at all happy about the new layout of this site. The old layout was simple and easy to use. I would type in the salary range and location (Greater London) and I would have a list of all jobs available. Now you have to trawl through all the London boroughs which is completely time consuming. Why don’t you just give people an option of ONE overall county in addition with the option to view individual categories should they wish??
As a result of this ludicrous change. a couple of people I know, and including myself rarely visit the site anymore - I’ve been visiting your site for the past 3 or four years regularly but I just find the new format too frustrating and no longer bother.
@Karen
I’m sorry to hear that Karen. If you read over some of my replies to others who have echoed your comments you’ll see that we will be looking to rectify the the LOCATION issue you mention in the New Year. See you then.
Merry Christmas,
Eben
i have tried putting in details to fetch up jobs for several councils and i know there are job vacancies but everytime your site comes up with ’sorry no results’ and example jobs for London Borough of Waltham Forest no jobs are coming up and there are job vacancies, thsi si not very good as we are missing out on applying
Not impressed with the new site. Wouldn’t display any vacancies at all even when I entered ALL. When I tried to log in it asked for a new password and then I still couldn’t enter via that route as it said I wasn’t set up yet. Then when I tried to go in again on 3 occasions it said there were problems with your wiring. Never had all these problems before, used to be a easy to use site.
Applied for a job via your system during the period 15 to 19th January, mainly during the hours 18:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs. Logon was almost impossible both via my normal isp (NTL) and also BT. Having logged on accessing my account and the saved application was even worse. The web pages continuoulsy timed out without loading. Having eventually opened the application form and carefully filled in a page and opting for saved or next, I was met with further time out errors, resulting in the loss of my text. The entire procedure was frustraiting, what should have taken 30 minutes took 2 hours. Additionally when you are forced to re-type a page upto 5 times before the system gives you suffuicient access to the servers to progress, the quality of your entry decreases. This thereby lessens your chances of a successful application. Overall the system and service are poor.
What an awful site ! Adverts for a featured jobs covering up the search results! Ouch! To get all finance jobs in London, I had to tag 31 boroughs. If there’s an easier way it was not clear enough.
From a design point of view (colour, look and feel), this looks like a home made job :-(
I’m not impressed.
My password had been forgotten. Had to use “Lost password”. Link took me to a page of garbled text. Had to find a PC with Internet Explorer on to get link to work. Then got “Account not activated”. Retried - got in.
Why is the width of the site hard-coded? That’s bad practice these days. You are using 40% of my desktop’s screen width but I have to scroll side wise when using my laptop.
Navigation take a a long time.
The ‘Edit your search criteria’ form is a mess. I thought it was not supporting FireFox but it is a mess in IE as well.

That is what I got at that point: weird font sizes and overlapping text.
FireFox v2.
Regarding the four searches I had set up - all had lost their details except the search title.
And when I go back into those saved searches having edited them … they are blank again.
This means changing one option in a “saved” search resets all the others to blank, thereby breaking the “saved” search.
It would be helpful if on the “Manage your saved searches” form, the RSS feeds were detectable. I eventually worked out I could drag ‘n’ drop them into my RSS reader but a “feed search” only finds one: the full list of latest jobs.
This website used to be so easy!!. What has happened??. When I log in my server recommends that I do not enter the site as there is ‘a problem with the website certificate -it is issued to a different website’s address’. Then whilst applying (online) I lost my information as a page repeatedly appeared stating ‘Hmm we’re having a problem with our wiring’…..etc. I had to leave the application in the end due to frustration and only returned to it today as the closing date is tomorrow. It took me MANY attempts to preview my application because the ‘problem with the wiring’ message appeared again each time I tried to move to the next step. Now I appear finally to have sent my application form I’m at least relieved, but NOT AT ALL impressed! Bring back the old site, it was clearer and easier to use!!
I’d like to apologise to everyone for the issues they’ve encountered in the past week. We have had some server troubles which we have been working very hard to fix, and the vast majority of issues around site availability, job searching and logging in should be resolved.
I’d also like to thank everyone who has left comments here for you feedback. Though I know a lot of you have been frustrated, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know of your experiences with the website.
To answer some individual queries:
@Gary
We’ll shortly be adding some new functionality to the search form to allow you to select ‘regions’ (i.e. the whole of Greater London) rather than having to select them all individually. I’ll put a new post on the blog once we’ve rolled this out.
@Gary/Simon
I’ve been trying to replicate the issue with overlapping text in Firefox 2 (on Window and Mac) but without success. The only way I can see anything similar to what you describe is to make the text size within the browser a lot larger than the default.
If you could provide any more information that would help me resolve this i’d be very grateful.
@Simon
Thanks for the feedback. We will be adding some features soon to give you more control over how you see the website (including screen width), more news on this soon.
@Lynn
I apologise for the experience you had applying online. As I said previously, we are doing everything we can to address these issues so that you don’t experience these issues again.

You may have to reproduce the account-not-working problem too.
It was not just a large font. It was a variety of messages in a variety of font sizes - including VERY big - and positioned in weird places on the screen (albeit within the column).
I get a message when I try and log in stating ‘Your account is not yet active’.
I have been registered with you for sometime. I have tried to use the forgetten password and resend authentican email, both change nothing.
Am I the only one with this problem. Please can you help?
Hi,
I’m having problems logging into my account and have requested a new password and a “Resend authentication email”, however everytime I try to reset my password I am being advised that my “Email is invalid”.
I would be grateful if you could advise how to resolve the problem as I would like to be able to search for jobs. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
Dear All
Can any one please tell me how to unsubscribe, I have tried every day since late December. I currently recive the 6 email alerts every day all identical. I have tried everything.
The link to deregister does not work, I have emailed the support team which I found after three days in the privacy section. I have not heard from them, they probably have other issues to deal with.
If any one has de registered they are unlikely to read this blog! Hopefully the support team might read this and delete me from the system.
I have a new job starting on Monday and all I want to do is stop receiving the 6 emails I receive every day.
It’s been said before this new site is a poor replacement for the last one. The last site worked very well and was straightforward.
Best wishes
Kevin Lea
I have just been asked to go for an interview for a job I applied for through this site just over a month ago. On checking my application details it appears that everything has been lost since the recent update. Would it be possible for you to retrieve the details for this post including job description/specification before my interview and is it also possible to retrieve my original application and forward this on?
The job is for a Clerical Assistant at St Matthew’s CE Primary School, New Hall Lane, Preston, Lancashire PR1 5XB.
Any help would be appreciated as there is nothing worse than going for an interview ill prepared. I can’t even remember the working hours!
Many thanks
Have tried to register, but I’m continually told that i cannot leave line 1 blank. I have filled in every available space! V frustrating please help.
I have now tried 3 or 4 times to save a search in my account without success - either I’m doing it wrong (please advise how it should be done) or there is a problem with functionality?
I also tried to sign up for the email alert which I presume goes to my email account and it keeps taking me back to sign in to my account which won’t save the search?
Lastly, it took about 5 mins to find a medium to contact you or feedback about my problems - I presume this is the correct format for that?
Hi - I have used this site for over 3 years now and now it is changed I can’t find my way around. How do you search by area like you used to be able to? Not very user friendly at all!!
Have just been reading the comments made on this site and I have to say that despite your responses your new site is an absolute step in the WRONG direction. It used to be quick and simple to use, clear and though cheaply laid out it was not messy or clogged with junk.
Now I dread using it and am loathed to even include it in my search list.
Please revert to your old site I think you would get a unanimous cheer from across the country.
[…] our thanks to all of you that have visited and commented on our blog about our relaunch over the past month. […]
Unable to login, have reset my password etc etc.
Change password and I am informed that my password has been changed.
When I attempt to login again, I get error message :=
Your account is not yet active.
Using WinXP sp2, IE6…
Wow, I am amazed to see all the upset with users of the site. I have a different moan! I am trying to search by ‘key word’, which is working fine btw…But when I go in to a job to find out more I cannot go back to the original search results. Therefore I have to go back to the main search page each time…time consuming and frustrating. It would be good if this could be sorted.
Many thanks,
Lucy,
Thanks for your kind words.
When looking at a vacancy detail page (from the search results) there should be a link in the middle of the page at the top under ‘Job Vacancy Details’ that reads “Return to Search Results”. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Eben
Jackie,
Go here http://www.jobsgopublic.com/vacancies/full_search and use the location section.
Cheers
Eben
please someone fix the website. I’ve never had any problem in the past, following the relaunch it has been really bad with errors. Following my experience the saying don’t fix if its not broken comes to mind.
Hi
I’ve just realised I haven’t had any emails since before Christmas, although when I run my searches online there are loads of jobs so it’s not a quiet time following the holidays, and I should have received a couple of emails a day, as per normal.
(This also applies to jobs.ac.uk - don’t know if that’s also yourselves?!)
I’ve even got jobsgopublic.com as a “safe” domain in my ISP and email client - any ideas?
Thanks!
Hi David,
Sorry to hear you are having issues and thanks for commenting. If you could comment again but using the same email address in the comment form as your log-in email (don’t worry - its not published) rather than a made up one, I can check to see whats going on.
Cheers,
Eben
As a new user since yesterday 15 Jan. I have had a recurring problem everytime I try to apply on line for a vacancy. The message the wire link has been lost (or words to that effect) continually appear. As a consequence I find I am probably unable to apply for the job as the closing date is 17 Jan. This is frustrating and extremely poor. It appears from me a new user that the “improved” web site is not and there are some major problems that frankly should not have happened. If it was not broken in the first place, as the saying goes don’t fix it, or at least get a trained mechanic!
Well, what can I say except how awful this new look site is.
Not only is the “get where and what I want immediately in one easy page” facility gone, you’ve fallen for the more “in your face” look to make it “cooler”.
What a mess.
The unsubscribe link does not work (and there are others that don’t and just take you to that irritating ‘oops’ page. I have got my new job and am trying not to have any more emails, but can I get rid of them? No… and when I try to do it by logging in directly on the home page, I have a problem with my password… I get a new password.. it does not work… SOOO frustrating - when is this going to be sorted out?
Hi,
I am having the same problems as all the above!!! it’s driving me CRAZY, wat the hell i login and it says that my email and password do match, then i try registering again and it does the same thing!!!
i ask for my password to be reset and when i put these new details in it does the same freaking thing. To be honest i’m pretty sick of this and if you don’t resolve this issue efficiently i will not be visiting this site nomore!!!!!!!!
Many thanks!!!
I’m having similar problems! I want to unsubscribe from Emails but can’t. I get ‘your account is not yet active’ when I try to login, so I go through the hassle of ‘Resend Authentication E-mail’ etc, but it still doesn’t work.
Please can my account just be deleted. After these experiences I don’t think I will bother with this site again!
