User Account Issues
We are aware that some of you have had issues with your accounts - ranging from not being able to log in to not being able to change passwords. We updated the software on Monday evening and some fixes for these issues were included, namely; if you had an account on the old system and were seeing errors on trying to log in to the new that should now be fixed, and we also modified the ‘Reset Password’ feature to work more smoothly.
If you are still having issues logging in (and I know some are) then please either email support@jobsgopublic.com with your details or describe them below in a comment and give your log-in email in the form - don’t worry your email remains private and only blog admins can see them.

What I liked about your site compared to other jobsites was the lack of distracting animations. Unfortunately they are starting to creep in. Google don’t use them and for good reason. They are irritating and disrupt concentration when you start to look at an item for any duration. So if I am trying to look at something I attempt to cover the animated part of the screen or close down. Please take them out.

Ray,
Thanks for your feedback on the site design. By animations - do you mean the large job ad on the home page? That is the only thing on the site that should* be animated.
We have minimised the amount of animated buttons with this design. The previous design had 5 buttons and a banner ad - we’ve reduced that to 2 sml buttons and 1 large button and no banner ad, on every page bar the home page which has the large animated MPU.
On the job display page there are no job advertising buttons (animated or otherwise) - none of the buttons on the right hand side should animate - only the home page has one animated MPU.
I hope this helps
Cheers,
Eben
* I notice one is animated! This may be a previously booked ad from when animation was an option - I will talk to our production team.
I have noticed that some of the jobs listed in the IT category do not seem to be IT related eg Male Resettlement Officer, Housing Adviser. This makes me think that IT jobs may be listed elsewhere and I may be missing them. Is there a problem with the categorisation?
Regards,
Jan
I seem to be unable to search on multiple keywords, i have tried CSV, OR’s and speech marks, but non seem to work. I am also unable to to find any sort of help section explaining how to do an advanced search?
thanks
Tom
@Jan - Thanks for your comment/info. All the IT jobs are in the IT category - though other jobs seem to have slipped in there the IT jobs have not leaked out into a different category. This has resulted in IT jobs plus some others not so IT related being in the IT category. Were looking at ways to stop this happening.
@Tom - Thanks for your feedback. We are tweaking our search system to get more accurate results form it. As such we are turning some of the more obscure operators on and off and did not want to release details on advanced search operators just yet.
I can tell you that AND works and so does OR - but you must use the operators capitalised. When we settle on the exact operator implementation there will be a page detailing them and their use.
Cheers
Eben
Hello: I was very pleased when applying for a job with Reading Council, that all my saved application information just magically appeared. That really saved a tremendous amount of time!
But, when I began to apply for a Medway Council job, nothing at all appeared. I hope that I’m doing something wrong, or that you can somehow rescue my application data from the ether, or …? Please help.
Thanks,
Arnold
Hello Arnold,
I’m aware our Support team have responded directly to you about this, however I feel it is also appropriate to respond to you in this forum.
Medway Council have not yet been migrated onto our new platform (Reading Council is one of our clients that has been), and because of this your candidate information in the usual ‘criteria fields’ is unable to ‘magically appear’ as it should via the once-only application criteria.
You are able to access your previous applications, and in the meantime you can copy and paste your information into your current application.
I hope this helps, and thank you for commenting on the blog.
Haylee
