Get Twittering with Jobsgopublic

Posted by Craig Stead on April 25, 2008

If you’re like us and love the new sensation that is Twitter why not check us out at twitter.com/JobsGoPublic. Here you’ll get an insight into everyday life at Jobsgopublic and can read about/get pointed to some of the interesting stuff that we’re “tweeting” about.

If you haven’t used it yet, why not give it a whirl? Twitter spearheads the “microblogging” trend, where people air thoughts and share information in real-time while observing a 140-character limit. It’s a great, free way to communicate with others whilst also learning a great deal about them (from the nature of their twitter updates a.k.a “tweets”).

If awards were available for “the best use of Twitter”, our nomination would have to go to the story concerning a gentleman arrested in Egypt. Jailed with only his mobile phone he used Twitter to inform his friends of his situation. They immediately contacted the US Embassy who arranged his release! Read the full story here

It couldn’t be easier - if you’re not at a computer all day, you can sign up for RSS updates, post tweets from your instant messaging account and even from your mobile phone!

So what are you waiting for – get twittering!

London Marathon

Posted by Haylee on April 14, 2008

Congratulations to anyone who participated in the London marathon over the weekend. I for one was there, in support of the 38,000 people who participated in the name of charity, along with hundreds of thousands of other supporters who lined the streets of London in weather that can only be described as ‘Four Seasons in one Day’.

It was also great to see so many people supporting so many different charities! If this has got you thinking about a career in charity, fundraising or charity management or how you can ‘give a little back’ to the community, check out the range of charity vacancies we have on jobsgopublic.com

Charities that list their vacancies on Jobsgopublic include;

Shelter, Oxfam, Cancer Research UK, RNIB, Childrens Society, Scope, Mencap, YMCA, NSPCC and Age Concern to name a few.
