I got a job through Jobsgopublic!

Posted by Haylee on July 02, 2009

As you may have been aware, we ran a survey on Jobsgopublic in May of which we received a phenomenal response from you, our users and jobseekers.

The feedback and results of this survey are going to help us define the most important aspects you require to assist with your job search.  To be involved you have to be a registered member of Jobsgopublic, but registration is easy so Register now.

Many of the comments were also from satisfied Jobseekers who had acquired a job through Jobsgopublic with many of the public sector and not for profit UK wide employers who advertise on our website.  Now it is you we want to hear from.

If you’ve got a job via jobsgopublic, tell us about it!  We want to know!

You can make a comment below and tell us about your successful application, what you think worked, how you approached the interview.  We’ll be working at collating this information more regularly and feeding back to other jobseekers via the monthly newsletter or another online forum.

Good luck with your job search

Participate in our survey!

We’ve started our first set of jobseeking analysis to see just what it is on our website that you like, or want to see more of, that will assist you with your job search.  To do this we’ve produced a survey that you can complete.

Complete the Jobsgopublic survey now!

It’s short, only takes about 5 minutes (we timed it), and will help us improve the services we provide to you.  Also if you’ve got ideas, you know we’re open to receiving these, and have a spot at the end of the survey where you can throw a few ideas around anonymously of course.

Alternatively just reply on this blog, we’ll be able to respond to you this way, join the conversation – we love it!

As a sweetener we’ve also added a £100 John Lewis voucher you can go into the draw to win at the end of the survey period.  So if you have a few minutes, feel like participating and improving our services to you as a jobseeker, then complete our Jobsgopublic survey.

Big thanks to all of you who are planning too, or have already completed the survey. It’s one of the things I love about ‘the web’, this collaboration, engagement with the end user and communication that can occur at every level, if the organisation or website are open to it.

Happy jobseeking

So you’re quickly scanning the jobs on jobsgopublic.com, maybe it’s your lunch hour and you’re multi-tasking while eating your lunch at your desk.  You’ve found a couple of jobs that look great, but don’t have time to read the finer detail and fill in that online application.Once you are logged into your account, you can save any number of vacancies to your account to view at a time that is convenient to you.  The cool feature about this, is that an email reminder will be automatically sent to you if the job you’ve saved is nearing it’s closing date and you haven’t yet applied.

As a registered user of Jobsgopublic we’re developing many personalisations and features, to make your job search easier.  We’ve already blogged about the ability to set up your Jobs by email and we’ll be filling you in with more tips via this blog to ensure you are getting the most out of jobsgopublic.com.

Happy Jobsearching, and feel free to ask any questions via the comments section below.  Alternatively you can email our support team at support@jobsgopublic.com

How to set up Jobs by Email on Jobsgopublic.com

Posted by Haylee on September 08, 2008

When you need to find a job, you don’t want to have to scroll daily through your online search results around finding your perfect job. Selecting specific search criteria will enable jobs to be emailed directly to your inbox.

The Benefits:

* Search your results from your inbox at a time that is convenient to you.
* Your time is important, save time by setting it up so that it is automated.
* Monitor jobs as they become live on the website, without having to scroll the website.

You will need to register and login to your account in order to save your searches. Please see How to Register for more information.

From the search page:

1. Choose your search criteria (keyword, sector, salary and location), then click on the ’search’ button.

2. If the search results are specific enough using your criteria scroll to the bottom of the page and there is a section that says ‘Save Search’.

3. Give your saved search a description e.g. Planning positions – North East

4. You can change the criteria within your search at any time by using the edit feature. You will also automatically receive updated jobs by email from this saved search criteria.

5. Congratulations, you have set up your jobs by email. You can perform and set up as many as you like to assist you with your job search.

Still have questions? Please check out our Frequently Asked Questions section to see if you can find your answer.

If you are still experiencing difficulties accessing and using the website, we have a support team available 9am-5.30pm every work day on 0845 868 4391 or email support@jobsgopublic.com.

I want to register now!

First things first, try a search! So you’re interested in Housing? Or maybe you’ve never worked in housing and feel that this is a sector you’d like to check out and see just how relevant a couple of jobs are to you (check out my previous post here). You can more than easily search the website without having to login or register.

However, you’ve just stumbled across some great vacancies on jobsgopublic, they’re relevant, and they’re actually your local council. To start saving these searches you will need to register.

It’s pretty simple (we’ve recently simplified the process even more for you) all you need is an email, your name, and of course the all important password. The password option is case sensitive, which means if you type in caps the first time, you’ll always have to type it in caps.

At the bottom you will see a tick box, depending on the specific searches you save in your account, we may like to send you a specific email. Eg. If you’re interested in Social Care, it could be about a Social Care conference, or the latest national recruitment campaign for Social Workers etc. We ensure the content is specific and relevant, and you never know, it could be your dream job.

Now you click ‘Register’ and voila, you are now registered on Jobsgopublic.com.

If it says you are already registered, you may have previously created an account on one of our partner sites, like myhousingcareer, Social Care Careers, or LGJobs. Not to worry, you’re previous login will allow you access to Jobsgopublic.com also.

This is the first of several posts about your Jobsgopublic Account, so feel free to comment and I’ll make sure I answer your questions in future postings. Happy jobhunting.
